Here is SurvivalBlog’s News From The American Redoubt. This weekly column features news stories and event announcements from around the American Redoubt region. [1]  Today’s special focus is on private military veteran support organizations. All of these are in the American Redoubt.

Idaho

The Inland Northwest Disabled Veterans Sports Association [2] organizes several sports events each year. Many of them are shooting events in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Idaho Horse Therapy [3] provides equine-assisted psychotherapy for veterans with PTSD.

Montana

Camp Patriot [4] is located in Montana’s remote Yaak River Valley. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. They have “a mission to empower and thank wounded and disabled military veterans of all generations though our outdoor programs.”

Eastern Oregon

The VetsWork GreenCorps program [5] was launched in 2014 as a collaboration between the Umatilla National Forest and Mt. Adams Institute based in Trout Lake, Washington. The goal is to help veterans transition back to civilian life. They do so through workforce development programs, with a focus on firefighting [6].


Eastern Washington

And then there is Point Man Ministries [7], which has a chapter in Spokane, Washington. Their mission statement reads: “To connect the hurting veteran as well as their families and friends with others who have already begun the transition home after war. With Jesus Christ as our focal point it is our desire is to provide spiritual and emotional healing through our existing Outpost and Home Front system.”

Inland Northwest Honor Flight [8] transports Inland Northwest war veterans to Washington D.C..  (To visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.)

Wyoming

There is a Wyoming chapter of The Soldiers Project [9].

WyoTech in Laramie [10] offers personalized programs for veterans.

WyoTech has several excellent vocational programs, and their graduates are sought after by energy related companies because of the training and education they have received, and the skills they have begun to develop. Give them a look.

So much suffering of soldiers and innocent people… Where is the outrage toward 27 years of war in the Middle East? Christ would not be silent. Yet for 27 years America’s pulpits have remained silent and complicit.
